I know. But it's still something I appreciate regardless.
[ she knows that there are probably people out there who wouldn't have cared if it was an accident or not, so it's nice to know that the ones who ended up in the camp aren't like that, from what they've seen. ]
Hehe. When did common decency become so rare in the world, right?
[ granted, they have pretty justified reasons to be angry at ending up in another murdergame, and maybe if they'd tried to go towards the camp and call for help instead things might or might not have been different, but
lamenting what's already happened isn't going to do much. ]
Well, there could be worse people to share a cabin with. Pleasure to properly make your acquaintance then, Stephanie Brown.
[ they've already done their introductions to each other, sure, but you know, something about only really getting to know people a little after you've gone through a murder trial and all? ]
I mostly want to just get an idea of how little we figured out. Everyone I talked to so far has no idea where we went wrong, whether it was that Ogata was deliberately framed, or we looked at a piece of evidence the wrong way, or...
Overall? We're too quick as a group to jump to conclusions regarding character judgments. Until we actually know what's making people kill or why, outside of the possible 'hostage' motive of threatening the people we know, 'he or she didn't seem like they had reason to do it' is flimsy at best. All of us came from places where people were forced to kill whether they liked it or not.
[ well, except the plasmas. lmao, plasmas. but she's not going to single them out. ]
I'd have to reexamine a lot to see any specifics, and I wasn't here for a lot of the discussion near the very end, but I wouldn't be surprised if inherent biases led us to, I don't know, dismissing possibilities out of hand or coming to conclusions too quickly.
We also did seem to more or less throw out any other suspect except for those four...
[ and if the prints ended up being fake, then that deeply screwed them over. ]
But no, you're right. Since out of all of the options, Ogata was also the most disliked. If you don't know who to vote for, people will tend to go for who they wouldn't miss.
Pretty much. Whether that's fair or not depends on who you ask, but you'd be naive to think any of these things isn't at least partially a popularity contest when it comes down to it. With confirmed possessions, at least you know it wasn't actually that person committing the crime, just something using their body.
[ 'just,' haha... ]
So, whether or not someone would have done it was obviously irrelevant. Here, though. Many people already have reason to stick to certain groups, and it's only natural for us to be distrustful of strangers in spite of any efforts to work together. The entire setup is meant to divide us and sow distrust.
[ so of course the first thing they'd go for when they don't have a clear culprit is the shady bastard. ]
... it's honestly kind of more difficult than it was the first time around.
Because then, you had to more or less build up relationships from scratch. But here, there are a lot of pre-built biases going in. No matter how fair you are, it is going to end up clouding your judgment just a little.
It is, there are, and I won't be surprised if it takes until they blow up in people's faces for us to actually realize that on a wider scale.
[ like. more than they already have. ogata didn't have many friends in the first place, but the drama, for example, if it was... fuck i don't know, who's popular. yeets dart akira vs lili. ]
I want to say there's a chance that won't happen, but... we already messed up two weeks in. And usually after a screwup, the next week people become even more frantic to get it right.
Expect the worst, hope for the best. With a group this big and unorganized, the only thing you can really expect is a mess until we get our acts together. Preferably sooner rather than later.
... But everything that we don't know also isn't helping. What's enforcing the kills, what might enable it, any other factors possibly playing a larger role in things.
[ she sounds... actually almost frustrated. no smiley here. ]
If we caught the killer, we could have potentially asked, but that... obviously won't be a thing for at least another week now. If they would even be able to tell us anything.
[ considering they know for a fact that they can, in fact, be blocked from saying certain things, given what happened to evan. ]
Wow, imagine if luck ever landed in our favor like that.
... but there definitely has to be something to get people to kill. Especially since it seems like the general consensus is that people think the competition is bullshit, so there would have to be a failsafe.
Again, it could be as simple as "if no one dies, then everyone dies"... but that's correct. Even if any of us actually bought into the idea of the competition, they'd be a minority. If it's voluntary, then you don't need to be able to read the room to know that going out and killing someone of your own volition is a stupid idea, considering the risk if they were found out and lack of would-be support from even supposed 'teammates.'
[ she absolutely airquotes teammates, because that only matters when they're actually playing the game. ]
But the Directors keep insisting no coercion, no corruption, no demons, no possession...
A squad shrouded in mystery. ▓▓▓▓▒ has met them once, and others can only guess at the members' identities from rumors. Members of the squad all have advanced AI and high capacity for independent operation. Rumor has it that Squad 404 usually deals with ░▓▒▓▓▓▒▓▓▒▒▒░░
