... Not quite. I was very specifically built to be disposable, so they could trigger a self-destruct command and erase any evidence of wrongdoing after. I was only meant to last as long as it took to do what I was intended to.
If things had gone to plan, I would have died there in that factory with every other doll and human that day, and whoever was responsible would have been able to sweep it neatly under the rug.

Long story short, I freed her and 17 other dolls who'd had a trojan installed and were tasked with carrying out a crime ring's dirty work under threat of a self-destruct order. In doing so, I apparently picked up a stray.

Bother? I wouldn't say that. I'd say she probably could do with a few more reminders of the fact that she did, in fact, promise me that she'll never be like me though.

Besides, proper employ or not, the fact remains that they would rather not have lost them. Not exactly the kind of situation I'd apply the word discarded to.
I'm not sure what part of 'self-destruct order' wasn't clear, but more or less yes. [ ... ] It wouldn't have been too difficult for them to enforce compliance anyway. Dolls were made to follow orders.
Does it, when our programming and baseline operating principles are what bind us, and the vast majority of us can hardly grow beyond them?
