We had to solve a murder.

... The way the group that broke into the arts and crafts cabin had to, or...

I’m not sure how theirs went. But basically there were hallucinations of people we knew from our old games there, and one of them got murdered. We had to figure out who did it by questioning all of the witnesses.

Oh, so you weren't just speedrunning a warped amalgamate of your previous games, then.

That sounds ... almost tame, for this place?

Yup. It was pretty lowkey.

We didn’t solve that murder either, so it was pretty accurate to our experience here.

And here I thought unlocking these places required us to be marginally successful at solving whatever puzzles they put in front of us.

I think the fact that we participated at all meant that we passed the requirements? Since it seemed like there was an option where we didn’t do it at all, and... that one may have gone worse?

An option where you... didn't go through a murder mystery going worse than the one where you did?

What, does not trying mean that your murderer becomes a serial killer who murders everyone, or something?

I don't know? We didn't do it.

I just don't think we would have gotten any items if we did.

So, what did you get. Anything interesting, or were they as useless as a lot of the other things that come out of these ventures?

[vigilantics]

We actually got stuff that could help, I think. Depending on how they're used.

Sometime that lets you record like a minute of footage, something that lets you check to see if evidence is fake or tampered with, another thing that can temporarily change the size of something for an hour, and an item that stops time for a few seconds.

Wow, an entire minute compared to the ten seconds we got in the mansion... Of course the thing about these items is that you have to find some way to secure the footage from your would-be killer for them to be of any use.

[ still, useful. hm. ]

I can see the value in the second, but the other two are... interesting.

We'll save it for the weddings we'll end up celebrating at the end of all this. Why bake multiple cakes when you can make one big cake.
