That would just mean that the puzzle was much bigger and more complicated than you ever thought it was.
[ cat nabs something that looks like it could be tumbleweeds or hairballs. she tosses them out experimentally- looks like they're meant to serve as a distraction or to block the screen or something when they hit another kart, but for the npc computers, seems to make them swerve around drunkenly for a bit? sure.
oh, but there looks like there's a ramp of some sort to shortcut a bit if someone had a speed boost... for another time, then. ]
Do you break apart and remake the puzzle in that case, not knowing if you have all the pieces or you'll ever complete it? Or settle for thinking 'oh, well, this works fine, I'm happy where I'm at?'
I think that depends if you like the picture of the puzzle you completed. If you really want to go through the effort of knowing what it really looks like, even if you may never know the whole picture, you can take it apart and try to put it together again. Nobody is stopping you.
[The fox progresses through the forest, trees falling around it, before it gets back to the main road. One of the NPCs throws some kind of sticky substance at Anaido's fox, who swerves away from it, but this allows some of the others to pass it.]
But if you're happy with it as it is, you can leave it like that too. Uncompleted. Sometimes puzzles are just like that.

One of the NPCs goes barreling by, pulled by some sort of stampeding animal, but outside of kicking up some of the vegetation does little to really daunt the cat as it speeds merrily along. ]

Hahaha. I think I'm just an incomplete puzzle for now. It depends on what other people want to do with me, I think.
